15) Edwin and Ilja Soleil Olvera presents “Like Father, Like Son”:

Movement Artist/ Choreographer

Edwin explores the idea of training his son as a professional dancer in a improv duet entitled “Like Father, Like Son”

 

14) The Olveras present “Crimson Twins”:

Movement Artist/ Choreographer

Edwin and Roberto Olvera bring to life The Crimson Twins from beloved GIJOE  cartoon series. The Olveras are creating site specific missions through out USA for the The Crimson Twins to accomplish. First in the series “Quick Change” was created in Seattle, WA with the help of dancer and camera man Evan Adler. Next mission is Chicago, stay tune!!!!!!

 

13) Radio Lab “In the Dark” American Tour with (NPR) & Pilobolus Dance Theatre):

Movement Artist for Pilobolus Dance Theatre

In the Dark is a larger-than-life stage show full of science, suspense, comedy, rock and roll and dancing–no joke, we’ve got dancers for the radio! You don’t want to miss it. Jad and Robert explore the miracle of sight and the evolution of the eye, encounter two blind men who argue fiercely about what it’s like to live without vision, and relive a stomach-churning spacewalk with an astronaut.

12) ASAP Summer Camp 2012:

Teaching Artist & Kids Yoga Instructor

For two weeks during August, Edwin promoted an active healthy lifestyle with regular practice of Yoga to over 200 kids at the ASAP Summer Camp 2012. Final project ended with Edwin’s Opening Ceremonial Blessings & Personal Mandalas creation. This was Edwin’s third year working with ASAP.

 

11) Pilobolus Summer Camp 2012:

Teaching Artist for Pilobolus Institute

As a teaching Artist for Pilobolus Dance Theatre, Edwin helps dancer and non dancers explore Pilobolus way of generating ideas through play in a collabortive work environment. This is Edwin’s fourth year teaching as an instructor for the Pilobolus Institute.

 

10) Photographer Bewoulf Sheehan & The Olveras “Struggle in NYC”:

Movement Artist/ Choreographer

Edwin and Roberto Olvera created two site specific works which was capture and filmed Photographer Bewoulf Sheehan. Struggle in NYC is about the struggle between the white collar worker and working class in NYC.

 

9) The Greatest Showcase on Earth presented by The Bartolotta Catering Company & Events @ Discovery World:

Edwin was hired in collaboration with IG-Design to create the atmosphere of being “Under the Big Top for this year Bartolotta’s Showcase at Discovery World.

 

8) “Dementia” A Fashion show benefiting The Alzheimer’s Association at Grand Avenue Mall:

Movement Artist/Choreographer

Edwin performed the his latest work called “Keep it Together” where he performs the 3 stages of Dementia (Remembering, Confusion, Lost).  This event featured Fashion Designers Carol Alexander and Heather Pierce. Supported by Odyssey, Art Milwaukee, Black Dot Volka, Canny Photography, Blush, Couto Art, Capricio Salon & Spa, Take Home Oven and ST/R.

 

7) PrideFest Milwaukee 2012 “PUMPWORKS” at Potawatomi Pavilion:

Company Director of  Entertainment/ Choreographer

PUMPWORKS is evening long production which incorporates Milwaukee local talents from dejays, belly dancers, fire troupe, hula hoopers, flaggers and much more. PUMPWORKS is base off of the Steampunk genera. Edwin Olvera & The Olveras collaborated with The Milwaukee Steampunk Society, Chicago Steampunk Society, PrideFest Milwaukee, and Emmy-nominated I.G. Design.

6) Pantel Telkom Presents The Blues Brothers 2012 (Chicago Ravenwood):

Edwin was hired as a Choreographer to create three funny, yet entertaining dance sets for Pantel Telkom themed event called The Blues Brothers. Event was located at the beautiful Ravenwood Convention Center in collaboration with Wren Solares of Styles by Solares.

 

5) 10 Week Residency for MPS-Alexander Mitchell & Allen Field:

Teaching Artist/Choreographer

Edwin is exposing students to 4 styles of dance from; Folk, Modern, Hip Hop and Musicals. There will be a final show at both school for this special event!  Special Thanks to Deb Lowen of Wildspace Dance Company!

4) Creative Movement Master class for Miles for Smiles Cancer Fundraiser (BOF & Riahas Rain Bow):

Edwin Olvera donated his time entertaining kids and parents during Miles for Smiles Cancer Fundraiser Event located in Green Bay, WI. Edwin taught a class in creative movement to a group of students, as well showing off his skills by stilt walking through the festival grounds. Tons of fun and lots of smile for a serious cause. Please support two amazing cancer awareness organizations by donating to Riahas Rainbow and The BOF Movement.

 

3) MIAD Presents “Edwin Olvera”:

1) Art Milwaukee - Wedding “A Gallery Night After Party”:

Movement Artist/Choreographer

Movement artist Edwin Olvera, Albanian-American writer, performer and filmmaker Albulena Shabani, visual artists Tia Richardson and Jessica Kaminski and film scholar Tami Williams explore personal and social, western and non-western conceptions of the wedding ritual through an alliance of spoken-word performance, music, dance, painting, photography and cinema.

 Performer Albulena Shabani (griot and bride) animates the personal, cultural, and social meanings of the wedding through spoken word, video, make-up and costume.  Movement artist Edwin Olvera (groom) brings to life this celebration of love, respect, admiration and devotion through a dance entitled “Loveformation,” set to J.S. Bach’s Prelude Cello Suite No. 1.  Visual artist and painter Tia Richardson (high priestess) articulates its cyclical connection with nature and ritual.  Jessica Kaminski (visual scribe) interprets this ceremony through her unique talents in costume design. Silent film scholar Tami Williams (chieftain) explores cultural and historical conceptions of this social custom in early cinema and visual culture.
